Proffitt and Associates Architects was awarded this project in February 2003 to design a new 7,400 square foot youth center. The site is located at an existing recreation park to take advantage of existing athletic fields and parking. The building includes activity rooms, arts and crafts rooms, computer room, kitchen, climbing wall, and concession stand. The project received LEED Certified status from the U. S. Green Building Council. The building features a geothermal HVAC system, FSC Certified wood, recycled content Homasote roof decking and insulation, recycled cotton batt insulation, and low-VOC paints and sealants.
